LAS VEGAS — The Grand Canyon men's swimming and diving team lost 187-107 to UNLV on Saturday in its regular-season finale.
The Lopes were led by sophomore
Mazen Shoukri, who recorded two top finishes in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. He finished the 50 in 20.82 seconds and the 100 in 49.62 seconds.
Freshman
Mikhail Lyubavskiy and senior
Wiktor Jaszczak took second (9:29.51) and third (9:31.29) in the 1,000 freestyle.
The diving events were secured by senior
Pietro Hufnagel Toscani. He won with 335.90 scores in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
In the 100 freestyle, the Lopes claimed second and third places with sophomore
Samuel McKenzie (46.13) and sophomore
Florent Janin (46.14).
Senior swimmer
Eran Ber found a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:51.69) while sophomore
Dylan Nasser (1:52.09) and junior
Cameron Carney (1:54.30) took third and fourth for the Lopes.
Sophomore
Alonso Carazo Barbero finished the final individual event, the 200 individual medley, in 1:54.13.
Up next, the Lopes have a three-week break before traveling to Houston for the WAC Championships on Feb. 26-29.
