The Grand Canyon women's diving team completed the final day of the Lumberjack Diving Invitational on Sunday in Flagstaff.
Day 1
On the first of the three-day event at Northern Arizona, the GCU women dived from 3 meters.
The Lopes women were led by freshman Lizzy McKnight, who improved eight spots in the finals and finished in fourth place. Her score of 268.65 was 12 points from qualifying for NCAA zones. GCU juniorÂ
Nicole Yeakley finished in 13th place, two spots higher than where she was for preliminaries.
Day 2
The women dived platform for the first time this season, including practices.Â
"Lizzy and Nicole did some solid diving that will end up being valuable at WAC," GCU head diving coach
Hunter Shafer said.
Due to the focus on 1 meter, the women only dived in prelims. McKnight finish ninth with Yeakley in 13th.
Day 3
The women competed 1 meter with both Yeakley and McKnight doing some really good things. Mcknight led the way with a finish of 12th, scoring 235.70 but showing some really good skill and optimism for what can come. Nicole finished 18th, with a scoring performance in the upcoming WAC.
