Muteti, Mcknight lifted Lopes against CBU
Grand Canyon's Emily Muteti and Lizzy Mcknight were named WAC Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively.
Mcknight, a freshman diver from Kent, Washingston, recorded a school-record score of 305.17 on the 1-meter board. She also won at 3 meters, giving the Lopes the diving point for the meet. Mcknight's 1- and 3-meter performances were NCAA zone qualifying scores.
Muteti repeated as WAC Swimmer of the Week. Against California Baptist, the Bombolulu, Kenya, native was part of two winning relay teams and also claimed victories in the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly. Her time of 54.82 in the 100 butterfly was a pool record.
With only eight GCU swimmers available, both Lopes were responsible for important points as GCU tied CBU 145-145 in the home opener.
