Schaffer speaks at conference in Sweden

GCU head coach presents for World Aquatics Development
Grand Canyon swimming and diving head coach Steve Schaffer traveled to Lund, Sweden, over the weekend to present at the World Aquatics Development Conference.Â

On Jan. 9, the start of the four-day conference, Schaffer spoke on the culture of youth swimming and shared insight about the physical and emotional patterns that help college swimmers. Schaffer also detailed what to do in early swimming experiences to help these competitors continue to improve as adults.

Schaffer, in his 11th season at the helm of the Lopes, presented again on the third day of the conference, when he talked about the use of metrics and data collection in training.Â

The fifth World Aquatic Development Conference invited coaches, elite athletes and innovative scientists from around the world. Schaffer was one of just three people invited to speak from the United States.Â
