The Grand Canyon track and field team took three WAC Athlete of the Week honors, including a sweep of the women's awards after the trio's performances at the Desert Heat Classic at Arizona on Saturday.
Freshman thrower
Jorden Okyere broke the school record in the discus and set a second personal record in the hammer throw on his way to the award.
Okyere ranks third in the conference in the discus and fifth in the hammer with his new marks of 49.55 and 49.08 meters, respectively.
On the women's side, sophomore
Knowledge Omovoh ran the WAC's fastest 400-meter and the second-fastest time in the conference in the 200-meter dash.
Omovoh's time of 53.83 ranks 33rd in the West and 70th in the nation.
In the pole vault, sophomore
Madelyn Lundberg was one centimeter from tying the GCU record set last year of 4.08 meters.
Lundberg and fellow teammate
Alyson Schwartz were in a jump off at 4.07 meters with Lundberg clearing the height and taking the meet win.
This is the first time three Lopes have won weekly conference awards on the same week since February 12.
