Grand Canyon led the winter Academic All-WAC list with 48 honorees, the most of any conference member for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor track and field and men's and women's swimming and diving.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
"We want to continue striving for excellence in everything we do," GCU Senior Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development
Jason Linders said. "Whether it's in the classroom, on the field of competition, on campus or in the west Phoenix community, it's good to see our winter sports student-athletes being recognized for the hard work and dedication they exhibit both in the classroom and on the court, on the track and in the pool."
A total of 280 student-athletes were named to the list and 42 percent of the winter Academic All-WAC honorees also earned All-WAC recognition. GCU's total of 48 honorees was ahead of Utah Valley with 37 and New Mexico State and Seattle U with 31 each. GCU track and field accounted for 27 honorees while Lopes swimming and diving added 18.
