The Grand Canyon women's tennis team earned another weekly WAC honor on Tuesday when the No. 3 doubles pair of
Celia Morel and
Autum Prudhomme were named the WAC Doubles Players of the Week.
The junior and sophomore duo have won seven matches in a row along with a 3-0 record in conference play.
In the last week the pair clinched the doubles point against Kansas City and were the first doubles match to finish in the three other wins helping the Lopes gain early momentum.
The pair hasn't lost a match since February 16, a 6-1 loss at Weber State. Since then their seven match win streak has coincided with the Lopes recent success. The seven consecutive team wins has been in large part to improved doubles play from Morel and Prudhomme and the two other pairs closing out matches and securing the point.
Morel, Prudhomme and the rest of the Lopes will hit the road for the final two regular season matches. The team will head to Chicago and face Chicago State on April 5 and UT Rio Grande Valley on April 6 looking to extend their lead in the WAC standings.
