SEATTLE — The Grand Canyon women's swimming team earned a sweep in a pair of triad meets against Seattle U and Loyola Marymount this weekend. The Lopes beat the host Redhawks 104.5-99.5 and the Lions 162-42 on Friday and repeated the success Saturday with a 104-100 victory against Seattle and a 150-54 rout of LMU. This is the fifth consecutive year that the GCU women have won against both teams.
Day 1
GCU took either first place or second place in 10 of the 11 events at the Redhawk Center.
The Lopes won first place in three individual freestyle events and a relay. GCU senior
Talita Te Flan won the 1,650-yard freestyle (17 minutes, 52.0 seconds) while sophomore
Emily Muteti placed first in the 50 freestyle (24.66), and freshman
Kelsey Andrusak won the 100 freestyle (53.53).

Briana Rittenbach and Andrusak teamed to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:35.51, which clinched the victory against Seattle in the final event.
The other top Lopes finish on Day 1 was a Rittenbach win in the 100 backstroke (58.43).
Day 2
The Lopes placed either first or second in nine of the 11 events on the second day, when the action moved to Federal Way, Washington.
The freestyle events were dominated again by the Lopes with wins from Te Flan in the 1,000 freestyle (10:44.80), Andrusak in the 200 freestyle (1:54.38), Muteti in the 50 freestyle (24.16) and the 100 freestyle (53.56).

Alyssa Christianson, Muteti and Andrusak won the 400 medley relay in 3:55.51.
Andrusak won her fifth event of the weekend in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:05.14.
Up next, the Lopes will have a break until their home opener against Air Force, Idaho and New Mexico State on Nov. 8-9 at Fr. Edward Reese Aquatic Center in Phoenix.
