Nick Green will be charged with leading Grand Canyon's throwers as the newest track and field assistant coach, Lopes head coach Tom Flood announced.

"I am thrilled to add Nick as our new throws coach here at GCU," Flood said. "His passion and commitment for the sport and his student-athletes is palpable the minute you meet him and talk to him about his athletes and throwing events."
Green most recently held the same position at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina, for one year. Previous stops as an assistant coach include Washington and Lee (Lexington, Virginia) and Heidelberg (Tiffin, Ohio).
"Nick is a very talented, young coach and was very successful while at Queens University leading their throwers," Flood said. "I anticipate we will see great things from him and big throws from our GCU throwers."
Green was a successful student-athlete at Ohio Dominican in Columbus, Ohio, 90 minutes from his hometown of Wapakoneta. He holds the program's shot put record (16.11 meters) and ranks second in the hammer throw (50.72 meters).
Green is set to join a GCU track and field program that took home three team WAC titles earlier this year, including a throws unit that had four of the top five men's javelin throwers at the outdoor championships led by individual champion and 2018 All-America second-teamer Jesse Newman.
