RESULTS DAY 1
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team completed the first day of the Bobcat Invitational in first-place, led by the duo of
Alexis Linam and
Deanna Salvatori, who finished the first 36 holes ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
Heading into tomorrow's final 18 holes, GCU is in first-place with a 585 total, three shots better than Portland State (588). There is a big gap rounding out the top five as UC Riverside (598) is in third, followed by Utah Valley (600) and Northern Colorado (608).
The day ended with an all-around team effort as each Lope had a countable score in either round one or two. Linam is the overnight leader with a 141 (-3) total. The freshman fired a first round 72, following that up with a 69. Linam had four birdies and just one bogey in her second 18 of the day.
Salvatori was steady throughout the day with rounds of 70 and 73. She is tied for second with a 143 total (-1), just two shots behind Linam.
Courtney Vogel had three late birdies in her second 18, finishing with a solid 74. Her 151 score through two rounds places her in 16
th-place.
Carolina Sandstrom sits just outside the top-20 in 21
st place with a 152 total.
Siripatsorn Patchana shot a first round 75 and finished with a 156 total, good for 35
th place.
Of the 16 teams and 85 total players, the average score at the Golf Club of Estrella was 78.89 in round one and 78.44 in round two.
GCU is back in action for the final round on Tuesday with the 7:45 a.m. shotgun start. GCU will tee off between holes 1 through 4 and will be paired with Portland State, UC Riverside and Utah Valley.
