ELK GROVE, Calif. – The Grand Canyon men's golf team sits in fifth-place at the Sacramento State Invitational.
GCU is led by Vinnie Murphy who was the first-round leader with a 70. Murphy shot a second round 74 and is at Even par for the tournament. Murphy is in sixth-place, but just three shots off the lead.
The Lopes got a pair of sub-par second rounds from Filip Lundell (70) and Trevor Lampson (71).
Murphy leads GCU with a 144 total, followed by Jake Chanen and Lundell at 147. Lampson sits at 150 while Matt McClung is at 152.
As the defending champion, GCU will have to jump over five teams to successfully defend its title on Tuesday.
Long Beach State is the first round leader with a 579 total, followed by UC Irvine (582), UC Santa Barbara (584), CSU Fullerton (585) and GCU (586).
