SEDONA, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished the Red Rocks Invitational in third place on Sunday afternoon at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona.
GCU was led by
Deanna Salvatori who eagled her final hole to finish in second place. Her final round 73 (+1) was the second best round of the day and lifted GCU to a third place team finish. Salvatori (225) finished with rounds of 75-77-73, being only beaten by the medalist winner Sofia Anokhina of Northern Arizona (220).
College of Charleston won the event with a team score of 909, followed by Portland State (915), GCU (921), NAU (922) and Weber State (943).
In addition to Salvatori's second place finish with a 225 total,
Alexis Linam had her best collegiate tournament, finishing in 11
th place with a 231 total.
Carolina Sandstrom also finished in the top-20 with a 233 score, good for 18
th place.
Siripatsorn Patchana finished with a 236 in 28
th place, while
Courtney Vogel finished in 38
th place with a 240 total.
Wendy Monfort played as an individual and also shot a 240.
GCU is back in action on April 9-10 at the Bobcat Desert Invitational in Goodyear.
