RESULTS DAY 1
SEDONA, Ariz. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team finished the first day of the Red Rocks Invitational just six shots behind the lead on Saturday.
GCU finished the day with a 610 total, just behind tournament host and day one leader Northern Arizona at 604. College of Charleston is in second place with a 607 mark, followed by the Lopes.
Portland State (616) and Southern Utah (620), round out the top five.
The story of the day for the Lopes was freshman
Alexis Linam, contributing more than her share from the No. 5 slot. She finished the first two rounds with scores of 74 and 77, good for a 151 total and a tie for third. Just two players shot better on Saturday than Linam. Sofia Anokhina of NAU is the leader at 142, followed by Clarissa von Stosch from College of Charleston at 149.
Deanna Salvatori is in a tie for seventh place (152), while
Siripatsorn Patchana is in a tie for ninth place (153).
Carolina Sandstrom also played steady with a two round score of 155, good for 22
nd place.
Courtney Vogel and
Wendy Monfort each finished at 160, tying for 45
th place.
GCU is back in action on Sunday for the final round of the Red Rocks Invitational at Oakcreek Country Club in Sedona.
