FINAL RESULTS
AURORA, Ore. – The Grand Canyon women's golf team completed one of its best 54-hole tournaments in program history, finishing fourth at the Rose City Collegiate. With a +20 team score, GCU finished with its third best team score ever, and had a pair of top-11 finishers.
The Lopes used a complete team effort during the tournament, using at least two rounds from each individual toward the final team score.
Siripatsorn Patchana led the Lopes with a fifth-place finish. The freshman, playing in her first collegiate tournament, fired rounds of 71-71-76, good for a 218 total.
Courtney Vogel also played well with rounds of 72-75-73, finishing in 11
th place.
Deanna Salvatori was close to another top-10 finish, but settled for a top-25 with a tough stretch during the final round. Salvatori finished with rounds of 73-73-78, good for 22nd.
Wendy Monfort shot GCU's top final round of the day, coming in with an even-par 72. Monfort, playing in the No. 5 slot, finished in 26
th place with rounds of 78-75-72.
Carolina Sandstrom finished with a 76, which included a back-nine even par 36. She finished 44th overall with rounds of 77-77-76.
Cal Poly won the team event with an 871, +7 score. Portland State finished runner-up at +8, followed by Nevada at +16 and the Lopes at +20.
One other Western Athletic Conference school participated, UTRGV, finishing in 10th place with a +47 total.
GCU is back in action at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on October 6-8, hosted by Kentucky. The Lopes will be playing at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
