Mosnia coaching
at Eastern Illinois
PHOENIX - Head coach Schellas Hyndman completed his men's soccer staff for the 2017 season. Tarcisio 'Cizo' Mosnia joins Kevin Doyle as the pair of new assistant coaches to join the program.
Mosnia has an extensive coaching background including an 11-year stint as the head coach at Eastern Illinois University. He was hired at EIU, his alma mater, to replace Hyndman and went on to lead the Panthers to a 97-75-19 record in 11 seasons at the helm. Under his direction, Eastern Illinois claimed four Summit League Championships and he was the Coach of the Year four times. Most recently, Mosnia was teaching and coaching soccer at Belton High School in Belton, Texas.
In his playing days, Mosnia was a four-year letterman at Eastern Illinois. He captained the 1974 Panthers squad to a fourth place finish in the NCAA College Division and competed in the soccer Senior Bowl. He went professional following his collegiate career, playing for the Chicago Sting of the North American Soccer League. He attended elementary schools in Italy and Canada before graduating from high school in Chicago.
"Cizo and I were teammates at Eastern Illinois University. We both came from a very, very rich program," Hyndman said. "We've been lifetime friends and stayed in touch. He will be spending most of his time dealing with our present team as opposed to recruiting. It's really great to have him on campus."
Mosnia is the latest addition to a staff that recently added Kevin Doyle as its associate head coach and recruiting coordinator.
