AT A GLANCE
Grand Canyon plays its first match after clinching the Mountain West regular season title earlier this week after a 3-2 victory at San Jose State. The win also clinched the number one seed in the upcoming MW Championship Nov. 10-14 and will hold home field advantage for the tournament.Â
The offense has outscored its opposition 19-6 during conference play, holding a +12 goal differential for the season to rank 38th nationally and first in the MW. The Lopes have scored at least two goals in every league match this season.Â
Freshman Arnau Camaño recorded his third brace of the season last time out at San Jose State. The freshman is tied for first in the conference in goals (9).
The top two assist makers in the conference belong to GCU, including Jorge Lopez (1st / 8) and João Gonçalinho (2nd / 7). The squad's 37 assists are 17th nationally, with a 2.31 assists per game mark (20th nationally).
The Lopes climbed to third in the country in shots on goal per game after tallying 12 against the Spartans. They are averaging just under eight a game, trailing only Washington and UIC.Â
GCU has seven conference wins, tied for second most in the program's D-I era. Two more wins will match the all-time mark of nine, set during the 2021 season.Â
Fourteen Lopes have scored a goal this season, including Sabri Hanni, who has scored in back-to-back games. Six Lopes have multiple goals scored this season.Â
The regular season title is the third in the program's D-I era (est. 2013) and 10th all-time.Â
A win Sunday would put GCU's total wins at home to six, securing at least six wins at home in a single season in three of the last five seasons. The Lopes are 14-5-2 at GCU Stadium since 2025.
LAST TIME OUT
GCU defeated San Jose State, 3-2, in San Jose this past Wednesday to clinch the MW regular season title and the number one seed ahead of the MW Championship.Â
Camaño recorded a brace in the first half, his third of the season, while Hanni added a second half goal for the second straight game.Â
The Lopes have scored seven goals over their past three games, including five in the last two.Â
SCOUTING UC DAVIS
The Aggies are 2-10-4 overall with a 2-5-1 MW record.
UC Davis broke a four match losing streak with a 2-1 win over UNLV, who hold the number two seed currently in the conference standings. UC Davis is fifth at seven points with two games remaining, four back of third place Air Force and San Jose State. The top four teams in the standings at the end of the regular season advance to the MW Championship.Â
GCU won the last meeting earlier this season in Davis, 3-1.Â
Tristan Wouters leads the squad with seven points, recording three goals and an assist.Â
Between two goalkeepers, the Aggies have totaled 67 saves and are fourth in the MW in saves per game.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
GCU travels one last time in the regular season and faces Air Force in Colorado Nov. 6. Kick-off is at 6 p.m. on MW+.
