MESA, ARIZ. -- The Grand Canyon men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up the USA Swimming Arena Pro Series meet in Mesa, Ariz. on Saturday with a record number of swimmers representing the school in the finals.
Daniil Antipov placed the highest for the Lopes as a Top-8 Qualifier in the 200 M Fly. His seventh place finish in the event with a time of 2:02.44 was paired with a ninth place finish in the 100 M Fly (53.79) to cap off an outstanding set of performances.
The Lopes cracked the Top-12 in the long-distance events with
Wiktor Jaszczak's time of 16:24.17 in the 1500 M Free. Jaszczak also went on to place 13th in the 400 M Free (4:04.31).
Estela Davis Ortiz qualified for the finals in both the 100 and 200 M Back events. Davis Ortiz snagged two 16th place finishes overall with times of 1:04.59 in the 100 and 2:19.88 in the 200.
Trent Godfrey,
Bogdan Plavin and
Noah Lambert all qualified and competed in the C Finals for at least one of their events along with
Samiha Mohsen and Rebecca Hakansson on the women's side. Standout performances in the D Finals include
Eran Ber in both the 100 and 200 M Back as well as
Mantas Auruskevicius and
Vangelina Draganova for the men's and women's 100 M Breast.
This meet concludes the Lopes' 2016-17 swimming and diving season.
