ELK GROVE, CALIF. -- The Grand Canyon men's golf team wrapped up the first day of the Sacramento State Invite in first place with a ten stroke lead and total of 574.

Jake Chanen are both tied for second with three strokes under par. Comeaux sunk two birdies on par 3's early on before scoring the team's first eagle of the tournament on a par 5 to finish out the first round. He followed this up with an equally impressive performance in Round 2 knocking in five birdies.
Vinnie Murphy improved on his first round score of 74 to shoot a 69, one stroke under par, which was good enough to tie for 2nd.
"Overall it was a great day and a total team effort," Head Coach
Mark Mueller said. "I was really proud of the boys in the way we finished and the way we started. I am really looking forward to tomorrow. This is why we practice. Tomorrow is going to be a battle, but we are looking forward to it and want to really embrace the opportunity."
The men will tee off again on Tuesday, March 7 for the second and final day of the Sacramento State Invite.
