Billy Comeaux of the Grand Canyon men's golf team is your overnight co-leader, firing rounds of 67-68 at the GCU Invitational on Friday afternoon at GCU Golf Course. As a team, GCU is in the mix tied for third-place, just six shots back of No. 20 Duke.
With Comeaux co-leading,
Vinnie Murphy finished with rounds of 69-72, while
Jake Chanen came in with a 71-70, both tied for 17
th place.Â
Matt McClung finished with rounds of 72-73, while
Hayden Webb came in with rounds of 73-73.
Comeaux took advantage of the par-5 10
th hole, recording eagles both times through the round. He played the par-5's six-under-par on the day.
No. 20 Duke leads the team chase with a 556 (-12) total, followed by Eastern Michigan (559), GCU (562), LMU (562) and Indiana (570) rounding out the top five.
Individually, Comeaux shares the overnight lead with Jared Multer of EMU while Jack Sparrow is one shot behind at 136, playing as an individual for Indiana. Riley Elmes of LMU is in fourth place along with Alexander Matlari at 137. Matlari fired a course record 63 in his second round.
GCU also had three additional individuals playing.Â
Michael Schaloum is tied for 12
th with rounds of 72-68.Â
Cole Cunningham is tied for 21
st with rounds of 73-69, and
Colton Estevez is tied for 46
th with rounds of 71-75.Â
The 16-teams will be in action for the final 18 holes on Saturday. The shotgun start will begin at 8:00 AM at GCU Golf Course.
