PHOENIX -- The Grand Canyon Swimming and Diving team will kick off the second half of the 2016-17 season with their first and only home meet on Saturday, January 7 at 1 p.m.
The men and women will host Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV), California Baptist and Arizona Christian at the Southwest Valley Family YMCA in Goodyear, Ariz.
The Lopes are looking forward to facing three strong opponents in their opening meet, including Arizona Christian Firestorm for the first time ever and Cal Baptist Lancers for the first time since 2012. GCU most recently encountered UNLV at the WAC Championships last season where the men's team edged out the Rebels for a third place finish.
The Lopes will enter this meet with a lot of momentum coming off a successful first half of the season. Both the men and women snagged a third place finish at the Northwestern TYR Invitational before going on to compete at the Winter Nationals and World Championships where team qualifiers set countless new national and international records.
