PHOENIX – The Grand Canyon men's golf team was the only team at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic that did not move down the team leaderboard nor move up any positions. The Lopes finished in 11th place after shooting +4 as a team in the final round, to put them at +9 for the tournament.
The Lopes had two players place in the top-25, led by
Alex Kline finishing a tie for 16th place and
Hayden Webb placing 25th after shooting even-par for the tournament. In their second to last tournament before the WAC Championships, the Lopes recorded 48 birdies throughout the Cowboy Classic, the third most from any team. GCU was able to capitalize on Par 3's, shooting even as a team, just one of three teams that did not shoot over par.
After ending the first day in a tie for 36th place, Kline ending the tournament with an exclamation point moving up 20 spots in the leaderboard. With seven pars in the fron-9, Kline was even par in the final round and would close out the back-9 on a high note with three birdies to end the final round at -3.
Webb would also move up the leaderboard in the final 18 holes. After a 70 in the first round and a 74 in the second round Webb was able to find some middle ground on the final day, shooting a 72 to go even-par for the day. On the back-9, Webb birdied two of the last three holes to end the tournament at even-par, tied for 25th place.
