The Grand Canyon University multi-event athletes opened up the competition at the 2015 Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships Wednesday in Orem, Utah. The four-day championships are being held on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Wednesday saw the first day of action in both the heptathlon and decathlon events. Click

In the decathlon,
Timothy Ryan (3,050) and
Timmy Johnson (2,903) are third and fourth, respectively after four events. Johnson won the shot put after recording a heave of 11.97 meters, while also finishing second in the 100-meter dash, long jump and 400-meter dash. Ryan won the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.97 meters.
In the heptathlon,
Ashley Krawczuk sits in fourth after the opening day of competition, having garnered 2,809 points through four events.
Sydney Tassielli (2,608) is currently sixth, while
Maylea Tooze (2,549) is in eighth. Krawczuk's day was highlighted by a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking a time of 25.77 seconds.
