Williams, Ralston Pick Up WAC Track Athlete of the Week Awards

Grand Canyon's Tope Williams (Women's) and Josh Ralston (Men's) have been named the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) track Athletes of the Week for April 6-12, as announced by the conference office. Tope Williams Williams raced to the second-fastest collegiate time in the 100-meter dash at the Mesa Classic, clocking a time of 11.95 seconds. The freshman was the third collegiate finisher in the 200-meter dash with her time of 24.72 seconds. In addition, Williams was a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that took first with their WAC-best time of 46.12 seconds. Josh Ralston Ralston ran to the fastest conference time of outdoor season in the 400-meter dash en route to taking home first in the race at the Mesa Classic Friday. The junior crossed the line in a time of 47.34 seconds. He was also a member of the 4x400-meter relay team that took first (3:15.68) and the 4x100-meter relay team that finished second (40.64 seconds).
The Lopes will split up and compete Friday at both the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational in California. Fans can find more information at www.gculopes.com.
