After yet another strong indoor campaign, the GCU men's and women's track and field teams are gearing up for the upcoming 2015 outdoor season. The Antelope men brought home a runner-up finish for the second time in as many years.

"We again had a very successful indoor season," said Flood. "We will look to continue to build on that success during the outdoor season."
The women will rely on
Brianne Kee to provide leadership in her final outdoor season in a GCU uniform. Kee recently competed at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Boston, where the Peoria native leaped to a fifth-place finish with her distance of 5.87 meters.
Jennifer Rolph (pole vault),
Tope Williams (60-meter dash),
Aaliyah Cook (high jump) and
Kevina Godfrey (long jump) all brought home individual titles in their respective events at the WAC Indoor Championships and will look to carry that success over to the outdoor season.
Nyomi Mosley, who finished eighth in the shot put at last year's outdoor championships, will lead GCU in the throwing events. The junior brought home a fifth-place finish at the indoor championships last month in the shot put, while also placing eighth in the weight throw.
"Our women's team will again be right in the hunt to win an outdoor title. We have made our job a little harder by redshirting
Vanessa Levy this outdoor season but will look for major points from
Brianne Kee, Jenny Rolph,
Tope Williams,
Kevina Godfrey,
Aaliyah Cook,
Andrea Olstead and
Nyomi Mosley to help lead the way."
Josh Ralston had a strong showing at the indoor championships, as the junior raced to the fastest time in the 400-meter dash, while also finishing second in the 200-meter dash and high jump. In his first indoor season,
Aaron Thurber proved why he is one of the fastest men in the WAC; finishing first in the 60-meter dash and taking fourth in the 200-meter dash.
Jahliell Wiltshire will look to defend his 110-meter hurdle conference title, while
LeSean Marks will also be a key contributor in the hurdle events for GCU after finishing second to Wiltshire at the outdoor championships in 2014.
Tyler Vandyke will look to lead the Lopes in the distance events again during the outdoor season.
Marcus Flannigan is back for his sophomore outdoor campaign after having an impressive inaugural outdoors season in 2014. Flannigan finished fourth in the 100-meter dash, while taking sixth in both the 200-meter dash and long jump at the outdoor conference championships.
Dario Horvat will also add depth to the sprints for Canyon men.
Akintunde Adeyemi, who finished third in the triple jump a year ago at the outdoor championships, will be relied upon to score in the horizontal jumps.
Austin Tilley was the conference indoor champion in the pole vault and will look to build on his first-year success in the vault during the outdoor season.
"Our men's team looks to be very balanced and the outdoor championship might come down to the final event," said Flood. "We lose the leadership of
Lance Parker and Rob Matthew after the indoor season but are excited to get back
Cody Smith and
Dario Horvat for the outdoor campaign. We also will look for leadership from
Josh Ralston,
Aaron Thurber,
Jahliell Wiltshire,
LeSean Marks,
Marcus Flannigan,
Akintunde Adeyemi and Tyler Van Dyke to make a lot of noise and score a boat load of points."
The Canyon women took home a second-place finish at the 2014 WAC Outdoor Championships, while the GCU men were third a year ago in Orem, Utah. The conference championships will once again be held on the campus of Utah Valley in Orem, May 13-16.
The Lopes will open the 2015 outdoor season Friday when they travel south to Tucson for the two-day Willie Williams Invitational. Fans can find more information on the 2015 track and field season, including GCU's complete schedule, at
