The Grand Canyon University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team for Fall 2011.
It was the second-consecutive season both teams have been named to the scholar team.
The men earned a GPA of 3.23, while the women had a GPA of 3.14.
The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams achieving this standard in the fall semester and in the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships (Winter/Spring).
The College Swimming Coaches Association is the oldest coaches organization in America. In addition to Scholar All American Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All-American Swimmers and Divers at the national championships every year.
The GCU women’s swimming team is coming off their first-ever Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship. The men finished second at the RMAC’s, but will enter the NCAA Championships as one of the meet favorites. The NCAA Championships will be held from March 14-17 in Mansfield, Texas.
