The Grand Canyon University men’s and women’s swimming teams continued their impressive start after the second day of the NCAA Division II Championships in San Antonio, Texas.
The men are currently sitting in second place, while the women are in eighth place. The championships run through Saturday.
Swimmers finishing in the top-eight of the finals earn All American honors.
Branning also won the consolation finals of the 200 free, setting a new school record with a 1:38.89. Nechunaev and Shores went 1-2 in the 100 fly consolation final, with Nechunaev’s 48.58 setting a new school record.
On the women’s side
Mychala Lynch swam a strong 100 fly final, finishing second with a time of 54.57.
Samantha Magnani won the 200 free consolation final, setting a new school record with a 1:50.45.
