Grand Canyon University's women's swim team moved up to No. 12 in the latest CollegeSwimming.com rankings. It helped validate the nine-spot rise with a win over No. 25 Mesa State and Pacific Saturday at Brophy Sports Complex.
GCU beat Mesa State 177-85 and downed Pacific 210-20. The 'Lo
Sophomore Caitilin Hoffman (Gilbert, Ariz./Gilbert) won the 100 Backstroke, 200 Backstroke and 400 IM.
Freshman Karlee Grundeis (Bakersfield, Calif./E. Bakersfield) won the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle. Senior Alexis Glessner (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain/No. Colorado) was victorious in the 200 Freestyle and 500 Freestyle.
Other individual wins came from freshman Tori Heron (Glendale, Ariz./Sandra Day O'Connor) in the 1000 Freestyle, freshman Julie Redaway (Braine L'Alleud, Belgium/Ste. Gertrude Nivelles) in the 100 Breaststroke, freshman Riley Smith (Phoenix, Ariz./Christian) and sophomore Brooke Bellah (pictured, Phoenix, Ariz./Christian).
The 400 Medley Relay team (Hoffman, Redaway, Glessner, Bellah) and the 400 Freestyle Relay team (Glessner, Heron, Grundeis, Bellah) also earned wins.
