Brett Swedberg enters his third season with the Lopes in 2018-19, after being hired as the men's assistant golf coach at Grand Canyon University in June 2016.
Swedberg has helped the Lopes through the NCAA DI transition, helping to get an individual to the NCAA Tournament in GCU's first season being post-season eligible. He also helped coach the two-time WAC Player of the Year and guided the Lopes to peak at a top-85 golfstat ranking. The Lopes have captured four tournament titles since he became assistant coach at GCU.
Prior to GCU, Swedberg was the Director of Golf and men's head coach at Arizona Christian University. Swedberg help build a program that captured five tournament wins in the fall of 2015 and was ranked as high as No. 5 in the country.
While leading ACU, Swedberg was also the Director of Instruction at the Moon Valley Country Club and the Dove Valley Ranch Golf Course from 2015-16. Before jumping into coaching, Swedberg had an impressive playing career at St. Cloud State where he was an NCAA First Team All-American in 2004 and an All-American Honorable Mention selection in 2005. Swedberg competed twice in the U.S. Amateur in 2002 and in 2004 before competing in the U.S. Publinks. In his eight year professional career, Swedberg won six times, including taking first place in the Minnesota State Open in 2009.
Swedberg was born in Alexandria, Minnesota. Together, his wife Seneca and he have three children named James, Nora, and Anna.
