Grand Canyon men's soccer head coach Jamie Davies announced the hiring of Michael Garrihy in the role of assistant/goalkeeper coach.
Garrihy joins GCU after a two-year stint at Jacksonville, where he served in the same role for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. The Dolphins reached the Atlantic Sun Championship semifinals in 2025 with his goalkeepers allow just a shade over 1.0 goals allowed per match.
Prior to coaching, Garrihy played for Tennessee Wesleyan at the NAIA level, competing in two national tournaments and earning all-conference accolades in three seasons. He totaled 166 saves, 18 shutouts, a 1.04 GAA and a .711 save percentage over three seasons in goal.
He also appeared for Galway United in the League of Ireland and was capped underage for the Republic of Ireland.
Originally from Lisdoonvarna in Ireland, Garrihy earned his bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Exercise Science at Tennessee Wesleyan.
