Lopez, Assane named to Preseason All-WAC Team

GCU tabbed to finish 6th in poll of conference coaches
Grand Canyon junior midfielder Jorge Lopez and graduate forward Ben Assane each earned spots on the Preseason All-WAC Team.
The Lopes duo combined for 10 assists (five each) and four goals last season, accounting for 53% of the team's assist count.
The honor is Lopez's third as a Lope, earning All-WAC Freshman Team and All-WAC second team in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The accolade is Assane's first as a Lope since joining the team last year.
GCU was tabbed sixth in the preseason coaches' poll, totaling 26 points to finish one shy of Utah Valley;s and UNLV's tie for fourth place. San Diego State was picked first with 44 points and half of the first-place votes.
GCU begins the season with an exhibition Saturday evening versus Eastern Arizona at 7 p.m. The regular-season opener ensues at 7p.m. Thursday vs. Jacksonville at GCU Stadium.
All GCU home games will begin at 7 p.m. and broadcast live on ESPN+.
