Five Grand Canyon players were honored by the WAC on its postseason award list, led by freshman phenom
Junior Diouf being named WAC Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Diouf earned four awards, adding All-WAC first team and WAC All-Freshman Team recognition. GCU graduate forward
Ben Assane was named to the All-WAC second team, while the Lopes'
Charles Volcy and
Max Kiefer were honored on the WAC All-Freshman Team.
Diouf is the first WAC Offensive Player of the Year winner for GCU since Shaun Joash in 2022 and joins Niki Jackson to be the program's third WAC Player of the Year. The Thies, Senegal, native is one of three Lopes to win WAC Freshman of the Year accolades, joining Maximilian Moeller (2020) and Josh Drack (2018).
One of the most electric players in the nation, Diouf's stats rank among the best of all players and are far and away more than other freshmen in the country. His goal count of 14 is tied for fourth in the nation, while his 32 points are tied for fourth. Diouf' has more four goals than the next freshman among Division I players.
Known for his dazzling goals and ability to tie or win games late, Diouf has five game-winning scores, which is tied for second most in the country. Diouf began his season with two goals in 10 minutes over Jacksonville and ended the regular season with a game-winning, 86th-minute goal against UNLV to secure a tie for second position in the WAC.
Diouf's 14 goals are second most in the program's single-season D-I era and are two behind Jackson's 16 in 2016. Diouf's points are also two shy Jackson's record from that season.
Assane earns his first All-WAC award in his second season at GCU and matched a program record, tallying six assists and two goals this season. The six assists are tied for most in a single season in the program's D-I era, while his 11 in total are tied for third most for a career since 2013. Assane has assisted Diouf on every goal this season, becoming one of the most prolific one-two punches in college soccer.
Volcy made an immediate impact on the back line since signing with the Lopes as a freshman this summer. Volcy leads all Lopes with 1,332 minutes played and has started in 15 of 16 games. The Montreal native has played all 90 minutes in 12 of 16 matches.
Kiefer has shown his offensive skills at the forward position alongside Diouf, tallying a goal and three assists to rank third on the squad. Kiefer has started in 15 of 17 games this year and had three assists in a four-game span from Sept. 26 to Oct. 9.
The seven awards are the most since 2021, when the Lopes won the WAC regular-season title and made its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
No. 3 seed GCU heads to Riverside, California, and takes on No. 6 seed Utah Valley in the quarterfinal round of the WAC Tournament on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. (Phoenix time) and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
