Grand Canyon freshman sensation
Junior Diouf keeps adding to his resume.

After a four-goal week from back-to-back braces in home wins against UT Rio Grande Valley and Utah Valley, the forward from Senegal earned two national awards with a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week and recognition as the College Soccer News Freshman of the Week. Diouf also won his second conference award as the WAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Diouf scored his first two goals in a five-minute span against the Vaqueros in a 2-1 victory, netting two first-half goals for his second game of the season with four or more points in a game.
His third of that nature came four days later against Utah Valley, a team that received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. Diouf scored two second-half goals, the latter being his 10th of the season.
Diouf ranks third in the nation in goals, points (23), shots on goal per game (2.11) and points per game (2.56).
In Division I men's soccer, Diouf has three more goals and seven more points than any other freshman.
The WAC weekly award is GCU's fourth this season and second for Diouf, while the TopDrawerSoccer nod is his second and College Soccer News is his first.
GCU plays two games this week, beginning Thursday at San Diego State before a Sunday evening matchup at California Baptist.
