The Grand Canyon men's soccer team added depth to its back line of defense with the signing of New York native Liam Harrington.
A native of Huntington, located northeast of New York City, Harrington moves to the Arizona desert and brings NEXT Generation experience through the MLS Next league. Harrington spent nine seasons with BW Gottschee and made the MLS Next playoffs three times in that span.
The center back played three years at Harborfields High School, earning all-league his freshman year and all-conference in his sophomore year. He aided his team to a county championship his freshman season and followed that with a league championship in his sophomore year. Harrington was also invited to the U.S. National Team ID training camp during the 2018-19 season.
Harrington is the third defender to sign with the Lopes this spring, joining Serigne Babacar Diallo and Henrique Lobato. Midfielders Lalo Serrano and Jony Muñoz along with forwards Alan Hermitte and Ben Assane have also signed.
