The Grand Canyon men's soccer team added hometown native and All-Ivy League midfielder Lalo Serrano to the squad for the 2024 season.
Serrano spent the last four seasons at Cornell, where he totaled 30 starts in 38 games played with four assists, 17 shots, eight shots on goal and a .471 shot-on-goal percentage. Serrano's first season with the Big Red in 2020 was canceled due to COVID-19.
The Brophy College Prep and Glendale native earned All-Ivy second-team honors in 2022 after logging 1,199 minutes and two assists. That season, Serrano helped Cornell earn a spot in the NCAA tournament and a second-round appearance after defeating No. 6 Maryland in the first round.
At Brophy, Serrano was named to all-region and all-conference first teams in 2019 and 2020.
Serrano is the second midfielder to be signed this spring for the Lopes, joining incoming graduate Jony Muñoz. The Lopes have also added defenders Serigne Babacar Diallo and Henrique Lobato along with forwards Alan Hermitte and Ben Assane.
