The Grand Canyon men's soccer team added a veteran presence in forward Ben Assane to the team.
Assane previously spent four seasons at Long Island, totaling 13 goals, 15 assists, 45 shots on goal and a.459 shot-on-goal percentage with five career game-winning goals.
His efforts on the pitch earned him NEC All-Tournament in 2022 and All-NEC second team in 2023. Assane had a career-best 21 points with six goals and nine assists last season to aid the Sharks to a 10-6-3 record and an NCAA tournament berth.
A career highlight for the native of Rufisque, Dakar, Senegal, was his play in the 2022 NCAA tournament, where the forward scored the game-winning goal in the 89th minute against host Maryland for the program's first-ever NCAA tournament victory.
Assane is the fifth signee in the last month for the Lopes, joining Jony Muñoz, Alan Hermitte, Serigne Babacar Diallo, and Henrique Labato.
