The Grand Canyon men's golf team is headed to Austin, Texas, to participate in the NCAA Regional Championship tournament.
The three-day tournament, which begins May 13, will be held at The University of Texas Golf Club. Thirteen teams will compete in Austin, along with 10 individual qualifiers.
The field includes fifth-ranked team in the country, Tennessee, via the Clippd National Rankings. No. 8 Arkansas, host No. 13 Texas, No. 20 Georgia and No. 29 Wake Forest round out the top five. The remaining eight programs include No. 32 Notre Dame, No. 41 UNC Greensboro, No. 44 BYU, No. 54 Utah, No. 60 San Jose State, No. 71 GCU, No. 90 Arkansas State and No. 142 Kansas City. The top five teams after the third and final round advance to the NCAA National Championship at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California, May 24-29.
For the second consecutive season, GCU earned the conference champion's automatic bid after winning the WAC Championship in Payson last weekend. It is the second NCAA tournament appearance in program history, following last year's trip to Morgan Hill, California.
