The Grand Canyon men's tennis team will stay in the Phoenix area for another weekend, traveling to Arizona State on Friday and hosting Nevada on Saturday at GCU Tennis Facility.

3 THINGS TO KNOW

DOUBLES POINT: The Lopes continued to find success in doubles, taking the point from Utah State last week. GCU has won the doubles point in four of six matches this season.
WEKESA WIN STREAK: Sophomore David Wekesa has found a rhythm in singles, winning two straight matches. Last week, Wekesa battled for a three-set win against Utah State. After winning the first set 7-5, Wekesa lost the second set 6-2 and battled back to win the third set 6-3. The Erwitte, Germany, native has played in a trio of three-set singles matches this season.
ROAD WARRIORS: After hosting the Wolf Pack on Sunday, the Lopes won't be back at GCU Tennis Facility for five of the next six matches. GCU will return home on March 25 to take on Dayton but will travel to Tempe, San Luis Obispo, California and Las Vegas before then.

SCOUTING

Arizona State returns to the Valley of the Sun after competing against three ranked opponents at the ITA Indoor National Championship in New York. The 22nd-ranked Sun Devils picked up a win over No. 13 Michigan in their final match of the event.

Nevada won its season opener against UC San Diego 4-3 but have yet to win since then to fall to 1-5. The Wolf Pack competed at the ITA Kickoff, losing to Memphis and Michigan before traveling to Oregon, BYU and Utah. Nevada has six singles wins this season.

WHAT'S NEXT?

GCU will travel again to Tempe on March 1-3 to compete in the Diablo College Tennis Invitational, hosted by Arizona State at the Kiwanis Tennis Center.
