Lopes head to California for 2nd week of fall action

The Grand Canyon women's tennis team is back in action this weekend at the SDSU Fall Classic at San Diego State.

The Lopes will compete alongside the host Aztecs, CSUN, Minnesota and UTEP in both singles and doubles at the Aztec Tennis Center from Friday through Sunday.

Seniors Natasha Puehse and Santa Strombacha are back in action for the Lopes after winning the doubles draw at the Milwaukee Classic last week. The No. 1 GCU doubles pair defeated two top-45 ranked opponents from Wisconsin and USC to capture the first ITA Gold Event in program history.

Meanwhile both sophomore Dania Deaifi and junior Valentina Del Marco competed at the Lumberjack Classic in Flagstaff. Deaifi had a strong showing at Northern Arizona winning a pair of singles matches in three sets against Maud Vandeputte from New Mexico and Ana Martinez from Tulsa. Del Marco and Deaifi also teamed up in doubles and faced opponents from NAU and New Mexico.
