GCU earns weekly conference award for 4th straight week
Grand Canyon sophomore defenderΒ Uriel Diaz Loza was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Diaz Loza helped the Lopes earn their fourth straight win with a 3-1 victory over Houston Christian on Sept. 20. He assisted sophomore forward Bright Nutornutsi's goal in the first half as GCU secured a perfect four-game homestand with the victory.

Diaz Loza and the back line have been crucial to the Lopes' success these past couple weeks, holding teams to zero goals three times over the past four games as GCU outscored its opposition 10-1 in that span.

It is the fourth straight week that a Lope has been honored by the conference. Sophomore Leon Schmidt earned WAC Goalkeeper of the Week three straight times and juniorΒ Clayton Duarte (Defensive Player of the Week) and Nutornutsi (Offensive Player of the Week) also garnered awards.
