A pair of former Grand Canyon track and field athletes were drafted in the SlamBall League which mixes basketball and trampolines with aspects of football.
SlamBall became a league in 1999 by founders Mason Gordon and Mike Tollin. SlamBall mixes sports and entertainment. It is described as "a compelling hybrid combination of the best elements of basketball, football and hockey, infused with the essence of a video game come to life."
GCU jumpers
Paxton Henry and
Tony Crosby were drafted in the fourth round to Slashers and sixth round to Lava, respectively.
During his time at GCU, Crosby placed second at the WAC Indoor Championships in the high jump with a mark of 2.0 meters. Crosby's best in the long jump was 7.0 meters.
In his last WAC Outdoor Championships, Henry had a triple jump best of 15.17 meters to claim third place. Additionally, he jumped a high jump mark of 1.91 meters.

On social media, the hashtag #BringBackSlamBall has over 200 million views, a major reason for the revival of the sport.
Since being at GCU s a student-athlete, Crosby won the Quad 54 Dunk Contest, one of the world's biggest dunk competitions. The high flyer is a captain for the Slashers.
SlamBall signed a two-year broadcast partnership with ESPN for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The deal begins Friday, as SlamBall relaunches on ESPN live from 4-6 p.m. (Phoenix time)
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+ will combine to air more than 30 hours of live SlamBall during five weekends of action. From Aug. 17-19, the SlamBall playoffs and SlamBall championship game will occur. All games will be played at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.
The second game taking place Friday evening will include Crosby's team (Slashers) against Henry's team (Lava) at about 4:30 p.m. (Phoenix time).
