SEATTLE – The Grand Canyon men's tennis team earned its first WAC victory with a 4-3 win over Seattle U on Saturday evening.
The Lopes (5-11, 1-2 WAC) overcame a 1-0 deficit after dropping the doubles point by winning four singles matches in the comeback win.
Doubles was clinched by the Redhawks (5-8, 1-2 WAC) with wins at the bottom two courts. Sophomore

Alfred Almasi lost a close match at Court 3, 7-5. The Lopes wrapped up doubles with a 7-6 win at the top court by freshman duo
William Alsterback and
David Wekesa.
After Seattle U won at Court 4 in singles, the Lopes began their comeback down 2-0. Wekesa won 6-3, 6-3 and Almasi won 6-4, 6-3 to tie the match. Alsterback put the Lopes in the lead with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win at Court 6.
The dual-match win was clinched by Da Silva at the No. 1 court with a three-set win that featured a 7-6 third set.
The Lopes will return home for the final three matches of the regular season, starting with home WAC matches next weekend against UT Arlington and UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday and Sunday.
