Lopes travel to Seattle U

The Grand Canyon men's tennis team will head back on the road for a quick one match road trip to Seattle U on Saturday.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

ROAD WARRIORS: The upcoming match against the Redhawks will be the final road match for the Lopes in the regular season. GCU has played in 11 road matches this season and the team will return home to wrap up the regular season with three home matches. The Lopes are 3-1 at the GCU Tennis Facility this season.
UNBEATEN MARK: The Lopes enter this weekend's match with a perfect 9-0 record all-time against the Rehawks. The Lopes won their only meeting in Seattle, a 7-0 shutout in 2017.
WEKESA HOT START: Freshman David Wekesa started WAC play with two straight wins in singles last weekend. Wekesa competed at court five and picked up a 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 win against Abilene Christian and a straight-set win over New Mexico State.

SCOUTING

Seattle U will host the Lopes in their first home match this season. The Redhawks played a tough regional schedule the featured teams exclusively from Washington, Idaho and Oregon before WAC play started at New Mexico State. Seattle U won a close 4-3 match against the Aggies before dropping a 4-3 match to Abilene Christian in Texas. Veselin Kiselkov leads the team with five singles wins and he partnered with Yu-han Hsieh in doubles and started 2-0 in WAC play.

WHAT'S NEXT

GCU will host UT Arlington and UT Rio Grande Valley in the final WAC matches at the GCU Tennis Facility on April 14 and 16.
