The No. 6 Grand Canyon men's volleyball team wraps up the regular season with two matches at No. 9 Stanford. The Lopes are back on the road for the first time since Feb. 24 and they will have 11 days off before the start of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament, which will be hosted by the Cardinal starting on April 19.
Both matches will be streamed live on Pac-12 Plus.
3 THINGS TO KNOW
- HOME WIN RECORD: The Lopes set another program record with 16 home wins this season. GCU finished 16-3 at home, passing the previous record of 11 wins in 2022 and 2016.
- MPSF STANDINGS: GCU will finish the regular season a week early. With two wins over the Cardinal, the Lopes would be in the driver's seat for the No. 2 seed in the MPSF Tournament. Sitting at 6-4, the Lopes have BYU and Pepperdine in their rearview mirrors with the Cougars tied with the Lopes at 6-4 and the Waves at 4-4. GCU owns the tiebreaker over the Cougars but not the Waves, splitting two matches in Malibu on Feb. 22 and 24.
- CONFERENCE STANDOUTS: GCU has a pair of players near the top of the conference leaderboards. Junior middle blocker Rico Wardlow leads the MPSFÂ with a .527 hitting percentage while sophomore setter Nicholas Slight ranks second with 10.1Â assists per set.
SCOUTING
Stanford enters the final two weeks of the regular season tied for fourth in the conference with Pepperdine at 4-4. The Cardinal wraps up an eight-game homestand with two matches against the Lopes before traveling to BYU on April 14 and 15 in an important match for seeding in the MPSF Tournament. Will Rottman, a 2022 All-American outside hitter, leads the team with 3.75 kills per set while freshman Theo Snoey had a breakout year with 244.5 points and 212 kills.
WHAT'S NEXT?
- No. 6 GCU will await its seeding and its first-round match in the MPSF Tournament hosted by Stanford on April 19.
