The Grand Canyon men's soccer team concludes the regular season Saturday night at GCU Stadium, where it will host Air Force for Senior Night at 7 p.m.
AT A GLANCE
- GCU concludes the regular season at home versus top seed Air Force, which secured the WAC regular-season title last weekend and heads into the WAC Tournament with the No. 1 seed.
- The Lopes clinched a berth into the tournament with its 1-0 victory over San Jose State Sunday. GCU can earn as high as a No. 2 seed and as low as a No. 5 seed following the result against the Falcons.
- GCU can get the No. 2 seed with a win against Air Force and a Seattle U loss/tie vs. San Jose State. The Lopes own the tiebreaker against San Jose State, Utah Valley and Seattle U because it defeated each team this season.
- The Lopes have won four of their last six matches and only lost once in October (at UT Rio Grande Valley). Since Oct. 2, GCU's record is 4-1-2 after going 2-4-1 in September.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Lopes earned two wins last weekend to gain six points in the WAC standings and clinched a berth into the WAC Tournament in Riverside, California.
- GCU won 4-1 at Seattle U before coming home and shutting out San Jose State 1-0.
- Lopes senior forward Shaun Joash netted his first career hat trick in Seattle and added an assist vs. the Spartans to receive WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.
- GCU sophomore goalkeeper Leon Schmidt totaled eight saves, including five in the shutout over San Jose State, to earn WAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season.
JOASH LEADSÂ THE WACÂ
- Joash scored three goals and added an assist last weekend at Seattle U and vs. San Jose State to overtake the top spot in the points standings in the WAC. The forward has 28 for the season with 11 goals and six assists.
- His play stepped up against WAC competition, totaling 19 points with eight goals and three assists against conference teams. He has scored eight goals in his last six games played and tallied three assists in that stretch.
- Joash ranks second in the country in points per game (1.87), fourth in points (28), eighth in goals (11) and ninth in points per game (0.73). He is one assist away from setting GCU's Division I-era record for assists in a season at seven.
DUO NAMED WAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
- GCU swept the weekly conference awards on Monday when Joash and Schmidt won the honors.
- Joash netted his first career hat trick in Seattle in GCU's 4-1 win over the Redhawks and added an assist in the 1-0 shutout over San Jose State.
- Schmidt totaled eight saves for the weekend, including a five-save effort in the shutout over the Spartans. The weekly award was Schmidt's second this season after also earning it Oct. 11.
SCOUTING AIR FORCE
- The Falcons enter as the conference's top seed after clinching the regular-season title last week.
- Air Force holds an overall record of 7-5-3 with a conference mark of 6-1-1. It entered last weekend 6-0-0 in the WAC before its first tie and loss in conference play.
- The Falcons tied No. 25 Missouri State (0-0) and No. 3 Washington (1-1) on the road.
- Junior Thaddaeus Dewing is second in the conference in points with 25, tallying 11 goals and three assists. He is three points back from Joash for the conference lead.
- Jacob Angeletti leads the WAC in assists with eight and is second on the team in points with 10 on the season.

- GCU's seed for the WAC Tournament will be determined with the result of Saturday night's match.
- The Lopes clinched a spot in the tournament and can earn as high as a No. 2 seed and as a low as a No. 6 seed.
- Tournament action starts Wednesday, Nov. 9, in Riverside, California, on the campus of California Baptist.
