POCATELLO, Idaho – The Grand Canyon men's tennis team wrapped up a weekend trip with a 4-0 loss to Idaho State on Sunday.
 
GCU (0-6) dropped the doubles point and Idaho State (1-3) used the momentum to take the first three singles courts and clinch the win.
 
In doubles, GCU lost the two bottom courts to give Idaho State a 1-0 win. Graduate 
Freddie Grant and sophomore 
Loic Van Zeggelaar, at No. 2, lost 6-4 while sophomore 
Adrien Coulome and freshman 
Martim Marujo lost 6-4 at No. 3. At the top court, the GCU duo of junior 
Mariano Argote and sophomore 
Stanislas De Samucewicz were headed to a tiebreaker tied at 6-6 but their match was left unfinished.
 
Heading into singles, the Lopes attempted a comeback with the two first-set wins. At No. 2, Grant won his first set 6-4 but was unable to hold the lead against Idaho State's Aleksandar Petrovic, who came back to win the final two sets 6-2, 6-1. Meanwhile, at Court 3, Marujo won his first set 6-1 but lost the next two 6-3, 6-3.
 
Idaho State completed the 4-0 win with a straight-set win at No. 1.
 
The Lopes will be back on the road this week at UC Irvine on Friday.
