Grand Canyon men's soccer announced the addition of two assistant coaches on Wednesday. Head coach
Leonard Griffin added
Ricardo Gutierrez and
Austin Nyquist as assistant coaches.

Gutierrez served as the volunteer assistant coach at San Francisco from 2019 to 2021 alongside new GCU head coach
Leonard Griffin. He helped the Dons finish third in the West Coast after being picked to finish last. Prior to San Francisco, Gutierrez worked as the executive director of the Carolina Renegades in 2017. He has over 18 years of coaching experience, helping more than 12 players reach the U.S. National team for their age levels.
Nyquist joins the Lopes after working as the assistant coach at Portland. He was named an assistant coach in 2018, when he replaced Griffin as he was

hired as the head coach at San Francisco. Prior to being promoted to assistant coach, Nyquist served as the director of performance analysis for Portland. He coordinated the filming, coding and presentation of information for the Pilots coaches.
Prior to Portland, Nyquist spent 2017 scouting for the Chicago Fire and coaching for North Carolina FC. In 2016, he was the director of performance analysis for North Carolina. He also spent the 2015-16 season as the assistant coach at Robert Morris.
