Grand Canyon men's soccer senior
Justin Rasmussen was named the first NCAA Division I All-America honoree in program history on Thursday. The midfielder was selected by the United Soccer Coaches for the All-America third team, making him the only men's soccer player in the WAC to earn All-America honors.

Rasmussen, one of 34 players receving All-America honors, helped lead the Lopes to a 7-0 regular season and WAC regular-season title, both of which occurred for the first time in program history. As one of the Lopes' two captains, he helped GCU earn its highest ranking in program history at No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll on April 6. Rasmussen started all 10 matches for the Lopes this season, leading GCU to its second NCAA tournament appearance in three years.
The Las Vegas native was named to the All-WAC first team and was the first student-athlete in program history to be named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week on March 22.
Rasmussen recorded five goals this season, the second most on the team, and recorded two assists. His 12 points ranked third in the WAC to finish the regular season. Rasmussen is ranked 20th in the nation in shot accuracy (.500), 34th in shots on goal per game (1.0), and 40th in shots per game (2.0). He scored goals in four straight matches from Feb. 27 to March 19, including a career-high two goals against San Jose State.
The 2020-21 season built upon Rasmussen's success from his junior season, when he led the team with six goals and was named an All-WAC honorable mention.
