BANDON, Ore. – The Grand Canyon men's golf team completed the Bandon Dunes Championship in 14th place on Tuesday.
Senior
Trevor Lampson led the Lopes in final-round action with a 72 (1 over par). Lampson's Tuesday round included four birdies. Sophomore
Matthew Braley recorded a final round 74 and to finish with the Lopes' best tournament score at 10 over par.
Other final-round GCU scores included senior
Adam Veenstra's 75, senior
Michael Salazar's 77, freshman
Craig Passmore's 82 and junior
Matthew Polivka's 82.
San Francisco won the team title and the individual title went to Tommy Stephenson of Fresno State.
GCU is back in action when it hosts the GCU Invitational on March 15-16 at GCU Championship Golf Course.
Day 2
The Grand Canyon men's golf team completed the second day of the Bandon Dunes Championship in 14th place on Monday.
GCU (38 over par) dropped two spots from the first round but remained within striking distance of fellow WAC opponents Seattle U (31 over par) and Utah Valley (34 over par). The final 18 holes will be on Tuesday at Bandon Trails Golf Course at Bandon Dunes Resort.
Polvika, an individual entrant led the Lopes with a second round score of 72. Polivka and GCU Passmore are tied for 37th place individually at 6 over par. Other GCU scores Monday were Braley's 76, Passmore's 77, Lampson's 78, Salazar's 79 and Veenstra's 80.
Braley led the Lopes with a team-high five birdies in the second round.
Day 1
GCU completed the first round of the three-day Bandon Dunes Championship in 12th place on Sunday.
GCU's 296 trailed co-leaders San Francisco, ranked 32nd, and Utah at 10-under-par 274. Entering Monday's second round, the field ahead of the Lopes also includes No. 23 Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State and Washington State. Fellow WAC schools Seattle (291) and Utah Valley (302) also are at the Oregon event.
Passmore led the Lopes with an even-par 71. His round included a field-best eight birdies to put him in a tie for 20th place.
Other GCU scores included Braley at 73, Lampson at 76, Veenstra at 76 and Polivka and Salazar at 77.
