The Grand Canyon men's soccer team returns home to take on Air Force in their third match of the season. The Lopes host the Falcons at 7 p.m. Saturday in GCU Stadium.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW
- MAKING AN ENTRANCE: Two Lopes players scored career-first goals in the season opener vs. Houston Baptist. Freshman forward Maximilian Moeller scored GCU's first goal while senior forward Rey Gaytan made the winner.
- END OF AN ERA: GCU head coach Schellas Hyndman announced that he will be retiring at the conclusion of this season. Hyndman is the second-winningest active coach in Division I men's soccer with a 505-169-58 head coaching record. He was inducted into the United Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame in the offseason in recognition of his 37-season coaching career.
- RETURNING AWARD WINNERS: GCU returns all six of its 2019 All-WAC honorable mentions in Easley, senior midfielder Justin Rasmussen, junior goalkeeper George Tasouris, junior forward Bert Wilton and senior defenders Ariel Aguas and Nick Barreiro.
SCOUTING
Air Force sits at fifth place in the WAC with a 1-1-1 record. The Falcons opened the season with a 4-0 win at Dixie State before tying UNLV 0-0 in double overtime. In its most recent matchup, Air Force fell 3-1 to Utah Valley in its home opener.Â
Air Force was selected to finish third in the WAC Preseason Poll with 79 points. The Falcons had one student-athlete selected for the Preseason All-WAC Team --
junior midfielder Tristan Trager.
The Fakcons finished the 2019 season with an 8-10-1 record, including a 6-5 mark in the WAC. Air Force won its first match of the 2019 WAC Tournament 3-2 over Houston Baptist before losing on penalty kicks to Utah Valley.
Air Force leads the series against the Lopes, 5-3-1. In the most recent meeting between the two teams, the Falcons won 4-3 in a double-overtime match at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado.
LAST TIME OUT
- GCU won 3-2 at San Jose State 3-2 last weekend with senior midfielder Justin Rasmussen scoring two goals.
