Lopes return to California for The Joust

The Grand Canyon men's golf team returns to action this week when it travels to Jurupa Valley, California, for The Joust, hosted by California Baptist.

The Lopes will be joined by host CBU, CSU Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Idaho, North Dakota State, Oakland, Pacific, Sacramento State, Utah Valley, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, UC San Diego and Washington State.

The two-day tournament will open with 36 holes on Monday and finish with 18 holes on Tuesday at Goose Creek Golf Club. The event is open to the public following California state and local county regulations regarding COVID-19. All spectators must wear a mask and continue to socially distance themselves throughout the tournament.

The Lopes opened the season Feb. 8-9 at the Orange County Collegiate Classic and finished in fifth place.

Senior Marcus Sundlof led GCU and finished in a team-best tie for 16th place. The Lopes senior duo of Trevor Lampson and Michael Salazar tied for 21st place.

After The Joust, GCU is back in action on March 7-9 at the Bandon Dunes Championship in Bandon, Oregon.
